DVD Cover Analysis

  • the photo of the singer is black and white to make it different to the whole cover
  • the font used to spell Madonna is used on the spine of the cover and the front
  • the font is different for the name of the dvd, when I have researched this links to her album, confessions on the dance floor
  • there is an image of a disco ball which covers the back of the cover, this links to the genre of music because the music is up beat and makes you want to dance
  • it is a very simple colour scheme so that it doesn't detract from the image on the front of the main artist

  • this again has a very plain colour scheme but the main focus is the black and white artist, this makes him stand out more than his name
  • the black and red is very dramatic and nearly gives the red a blood feel but it is infact the picture of sound
  • none of the text on the cover is centred, it either comes from the right or the left

  • the name of the artist is printed clearly at the top, the font is very simple but very effective
  • the name of the artist is in capitals and the name of the dvd is in lower case, this is so that the attention is on the name of the artist and this is what you read first (stands out)
  • the costume on the front of front of the dvd cover links in with the title of the dvd as she is wearing leather and studs, a "bad girl" image
  • there is not a lot of text on the back and the picture is the main focus, it also links in with a song on the dvd, "Umberella"

  • I feel that the image on the front represents the lights in a club therefore linking to the genre of club (Clubland)
  • there is not a particular artist name on the dvd but because it's a brand name everyone knows the genre of the music and who is likely to be on the dvd
  • the colour scheme is very simple but bright, your attention is all over the dvd
  • there is also a photo of its corresponding cd cover on the back

  • the name of the artist is spread on the cover, the first name is at the top of the dvd and the surname is at the bottom, inbetween is the official title of the dvd
  • the name of the artist and the title of the dvd is also down the spine
  • there is not a particular colour scheme to this cover as both the images on the back and the front cover the whole cover therefore a colour scheme is not needed (although they have used white writing so that it is shown up well on the photos
  • both the images are of her live perfomance, close up image on the front and a high angle shot on the back
  • also on the spine is a small image of the image on the front
